A person dressed in black gear, carrying a backpack, is taking a photograph with a camera at the edge of a rough ocean. Snow-covered mountains are visible in the background under a cloudy sky.

I’m a photographer based in Canada. Getting out to explore the backyard we’re blessed with never gets old. My favourite days are the stormy ones that bring atmosphere and mood to the scene. Sometimes, a great shot presents from the side of the highway. For me, there’s a special excitement in capturing something that required a tent or good hiking boots to reach.

I’m also fascinated by the night sky. Wide field, or deep field imaging — it’s all amazing. There’s something special about bringing hundreds of exposures back to the editing suite and seeing what would otherwise be invisible.

When I’m photographing wildlife, I’m the best version of myself. Taking in the sounds of nature, waiting for something to happen - it’s the mix of anticipation and being present that soothes my soul. The days I’m lucky enough to catch a glimpse or have an extended interaction with wildlife, those are the ones that put a grin on my face and keep me coming back!
